What is this?
Our producer, Z. Suzanne Aikman, is working with the US Census Bureau with the
"The Denver Region Tribal Road Tour Vehicle! A Journey of Many Voices..."
This is a 9,000 mile, three-month trip to most of the 91 tribal nations in the
Great Plains and Southwest. It will involve a four-wheel drive vehicle, and wintry
conditions on snowy reservation roads. The government wants to reach out to Native
American peoples in the Denver region to tell them how important is is to participate
in the Census.

Susie's Journey Notes

- the kids did good this morning at aNV. I'm listening in at Salt Lake City.
We had a good powwow last night at Indian Walk-in Center, a lightly funded urban
center for Native people in the big city. Many thousands of Indian people live
and work and suffer in Salt Lake City as other urban areas. the Walk-In Center
is a haven for culture, friends and help when needed.
- The powwow was specially planned for the Tribal Road Tour and we were welcomed
and honored by the folks here. It was good crowd and good singing and dancing.
- The Tour goes on to Elko NV today for an event at Te-Moak/Western Shoshone
administration building on Monday, March 8th. Then to Ely and Duckwater, NV.
And end the week at Cedar City, UT.
- I hope to see many of you at March Powwow. Look for us near portal 16, at
least that's where we usually are located. If you would like posters we are
giving away on the tour, mention you are reading the on-line journal and would
like the posters. We want to give them to our listening village.
- See you there. Susie (Road Warrior)

- I'm in Farmington, NM tonight. Having been through Tuba City and snow and mud,
Hopi, snow and mud, Navajo, mud and bitter cold and Zuni Pueblo today where
the weather was a bit more comfortable. It's snowing like the dickens here
and folks are saying it's going to be a big one - I hope not!

- It was fun to call in to alterNative Voices show yesterday!
- I'm in Tuba city, AZ in the Navajo Nation today. Woke up to snow piled
up about 8 inches and expecting up to 14. Our events are outside and I'm
bundeled up and waiting to see what the local team wants to do. Then on to
Hopi this afternoon, but snow is there too.
- Drove through the red clay country yesterday from Flagstaff. What
beauty in the landscapes I've been favored to see. So much more yet ahead.

- Chasing the Sun Powwow is going on now. I was there all morning. You
can tell listeners that Wallace Coffey was MC. A familiar voice for Denver
Indians who were around in the 80"s. They announced some thousand dancers
at the noon grand entry.
- On our way to Tuba City Sunday for an event on Monday.
- HAPPY HEARTS DAY!!! Sunday, 14 February 2010
- I'm in Casa Grande, AZ tonight and tommorrow. It's 75 degrees and clear and dry;
the palm trees are barely swaying. I see it's 18 degrees in Denver right now.
- I'll change co-pilots tommorrow for the Arizona leg. I have half day off
tommorrow after we do a few hours at the O'Odham Tash Carnival. I'll see about
visiting the ruins of Casa Grande.
- I'm one week into this venture!

They are forcing me to take a day off Tuesday in southern AZ.
- I think I would miss all of you if I had time to! I drive and set
up/take down events for about 12 hours a day.
